In Italian, we say Calamari Fritti
Ingredients
1 pound Calamari
1 cup of Flour semolina durium
Salt
Pepper
Oil for frying
Preparation
Wash the calamari very well
Cut the tubes in circles 1/3 inch thick
The tentacles leave hole
Dry the calamari very well with kitchen/paper towel
Put 1/2 cup of the flour in a plate
Coat the calamari in flour
Shake the excess flour and keep calamari on the side
Repeat one more time with the rest of the flour (add more flour if necessary)
Put the oil in a frying pan
When the oil is hot, add the calamari and gently fry them
Transfer the calamari to a paper towel
Dry the excess oil
Add salt and pepper (optional)
Transfer the calamari to a serving plate
Garnish with lemon wedges and serve hot
You can also serve with marinara sauce on the side
