Pizzaiola is Meat with Tomato Sauce. A recipe typical of Naples, Italy. The meat in this dish has a lot of flavor because it cooks slowly with the spices. The oregano gives a distinguish taste. You can also use the Pizzaiola sauce  for your spaghetti or linguini pasta dishes.

Serving: 4 people (4 oz of meat for each person)

Ingredients:

6 slices Beef Round Steak or Flip Steak

1 can peeled San Marzano tomatoes ( San Marzano )

3 cloves Garlic

5 tbsp Dry Oregano

2 Carrots

Bunch of Basil

Parsley

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Salt

Pepper

Preparation

Cut each slice of the  meat in half. You should have a total of 12 pieces. Flavor the meat with salt and pepper on each side and leave them on the side.

Cut the peeled tomatoes and add it to a bowl with all the juice from the can.

Chop the garlic and the parsley and add them to the tomatoes sauce.

Add the oregano, salt and pepper to the tomatoes. Mix it all together.

Cover the bottom of a skillet with a little bit of the tomatoes sauce.  Lay 6 slices of the meat on top of the tomato sauce. Pour 1/2 of the remaining tomato sauce and then lay the other 6 slices of meat. Finish up by pouring the rest of the tomato sauce on top of the slices. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Cook it in high heat and bring it to a boil.

When the sauce is boiling, add the bunch of basil. Just tear the basil leaves with yourhands.

Cut the carrots as sticks and add it to the skillet.

Press the basil and carrot into the sauce to mix it all together.

Turn the heat the low and cover the meat. Cook it slowly for

1 hour

or until the meat is tender. Keep adding 1/4 cup of water to the sauce if becomes to dry for your taste.

Enjoy it

Buon Appetito!
